About
Originally formed in 1914 by the great polymath Walter Leachman, Benzanoe Magazine was based on his definition of a new word, which he had hoped to introduce into the English language: “Benzanoe is not a place, it isn’t a state of mind. It’s a utopia… a faction of your imagination”.
With a view to fulfilling Leachman’s original ambition it was re-launched in July 2010. The release of issue 63 adding another chapter to its already sprawling history.
Leachman’s original manifesto from 1914 is outlined in the following quote:
“Harnessing the spirit of the dawn, and with heads full of utopian dreams, we go in search of Benzanoe. Forever correcting our course, with no accordance with commission or compromise. Ignoring the lag between memory and vision, we continue. Though we may never find it, imagine what we will create along the way.”
